As far as I know the programmes of yesteryear(beginnig stage of comp) were written keeping in mind that the person using it should know what is written but only at the latter stage when the money making became the main proposition - the man took over the freedom to view the source code until then "the man" did not realise the value of the freedom that they were having but only when clamp down on source code occured it came to realise about it.

I don't believe in preching or guiding the crowed that has already made up the mind of making money as it's sole motto and "live on" since for livilyhood money is an important factor - I don't blame them they are pregmatic in theit approach and beleive me where ever I have worked it's the same case hardly you will find guys sticking with linux 'cause of  the money factor and the liveyhood issue. hmmmm. Even I selected a tech(dual licenced) that was latter LGPL'ed and ported on to symbain thats got it's SDK run atop Closed source OS -

Lets take a scenario of we Indians united to fight against britisfh empire that too without voilence for freedom(I guess). I don't think that most men were willing to sacrifice their living "Nonsense". Yet lot many got involved in the fight who must have given their life without the hunger for their name printed on records or fame or recognition and only because of these non selfish attitude we are free now.
